3D Geocellular Modeling

See What You’ve Been Missing

What is it?

Geocellular modeling creates a virtual reservoir. Every spatial property of the subsurface; wells, structure, faults, facies, petrophysics can be mathematically represented in 3-dimensonal space.

Humans intuitively adsorb vast amounts of information by simply looking at a physical object. When we see a chair we automatically understand its size, shape, dimensions, color, texture and much more. Modeling makes the subsurface comprehensible in ways classical mapping cannot.

Can Modeling Use My Data?

Yes! Modeling can use nearly any geologic data from visual descriptions, borehole petrophysics, seismic, geoprobe, mapping and many others. In today’s computer-centric world more and more data are in digital format that is perfect for modeling.

What are the benefits?

Modeling:

  • Permits slicing the reservoir along any transect showing how properties change spatially

  • Converts properties to digital information that automatically gives quantitative values; especially important for oil, gas, or mineral volumes in place.

  • Modeling uses probabilistic techniques that minimize human biases while permitting interpretation where needed.
